Court fees

What you pay the court

Every Ontario divorce has government court fees, no matter who prepares it. They are paid directly to the court, not to us.

If you have a low income or receive Ontario Works or ODSP, you may qualify for a court fee waiver.

How we compare

Why flat fees make sense

Traditional family law firms usually ask for a retainer and bill by the hour, so even a simple uncontested divorce can cost a few thousand dollars, and you rarely know the final number until the end. Because we focus on uncontested matters and work online, we can offer a fixed price for a clearly defined service.

Doing it yourself costs only the court fees, but errors are common, and a returned application can delay your divorce for months. Our Documentation service is a middle ground: professionally prepared documents for $399, which you file yourself.

What's not included

Our flat fees cover a clearly defined uncontested service. They don't include government court fees, third-party costs such as a process server or a certified translation, or contested matters where spouses disagree. If your situation needs more than a flat-fee service, we will tell you before you commit.

Pricing questions

How much does an uncontested divorce cost in Ontario?

There are two parts: our flat professional fee and the government court fees. Our fees are $399 for document preparation only or $599 for our complete service where we file and manage your case (plus HST). Ontario court fees are $669 in total: $224 to file the application and $445 when the case is sent to a judge. See our pricing and court fee guide.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. Our professional fee is fixed and quoted up front. Separately, the court charges its own fees, and some cases have third-party costs, such as a process server to deliver papers to a spouse in a simple application or translation of a foreign marriage certificate. If your case involves any of these, we tell you before you commit.

Can I get the court fees waived?

Possibly. Ontario has a court fee waiver program for people with limited income and assets, including those receiving Ontario Works or ODSP. If approved, the provincial fees are waived, but the $10 federal divorce fee still applies. See our fee waiver guide.
