Looking for help? Easy Path Divorce offers flat-fee services for divorce application in Ontario. Your Form 8A divorce application prepared and reviewed for $399 + HST.

Before you file a divorce application in Ontario, it helps to know exactly what the court will charge. These are government fees paid to the Superior Court of Justice. They’re the same whether you file yourself or hire help, and they’re separate from any professional fees.

Ontario divorce court fees (2026)

Fee When you pay it Amount
Filing the divorce application When you file Form 8A $224
— Provincial portion $214
— Federal divorce registry fee $10
Setting the case down for a judge When you file the affidavit for divorce $445
Total mandatory court fees $669
Certificate of divorce (optional) After the divorce takes effect $25

What the $10 federal fee is for

Every divorce in Canada is checked against the federal Central Registry of Divorce Proceedings to make sure there isn’t another divorce case for the same marriage elsewhere in Canada. The $10 covers that check. It’s included in the $224 filing fee and can’t be waived.

Joint divorce application fee

A joint divorce application costs exactly the same in court fees as a sole application. The only difference in cost is that a sole application usually needs a process server to deliver the papers to your spouse. Compare them in joint vs sole divorce application.

Fee waivers

If you have a low income or limited assets, or you receive Ontario Works, ODSP or certain other benefits, you may qualify for a fee waiver. If approved, the provincial fees ($214 and $445) are waived and you pay only the $10 federal fee. See our court fee waiver guide.

How to pay divorce application fees

Other costs to budget for
